I used this to mount a 10 foot length of 1 inch EMT holding a Digital TV antenna to a 6:12 pitch roof gable's wood fascia boards. The mount material is heavy gauge and I expect it to hold up well. However, I'm not sure this is the right item if you live in a very salt air corrosive environment. I'd check with the manufacturer about the plating used.I extended the lower bracket all the way out to gain the maximum distance between the two mounts for stability, not that I needed to do so, but OK. This would work well on a 4:12 pitch too; the brackets would be somewhat closer together, but OK. Higher pitch roof? No problem.Drill pilot holes and attach the upper mount to the fascia boards at the center of the gable with the supplied lag bolts using a socket wrench. Set the lower bracket you've already assembled in place using a level and a plumb line (string and washer) off of the upper bracket. Mark and drill pilot holes in the fascia and attach the lower bracket with the provided lag bolts using a socket wrench. The pole then easily slips in and can be secured with a bolt to the lower bracket to keep the pole from rotating.I only wish the stand-off from the fascia had another half-inch to an inch more stand-off. In my case the roof's ridge-cap end had to be cut back just a bit to clear the pole.
